“Knowledge is of no value unless you put it into practice.” Anton Chekhov.

Life can be busy and overwhelming and we sometimes have limited time to spot wisdom that will help us to live life well. I have had plenty of downtime over the past month as I recover from sinus surgery. This has allowed me to have some time to take stock and reflect. During some reflection time I came across the piece below called ‘Promise yourself‘ by Christian D Larson.

It is short but I was reminded that it contains some really helpful words of wisdom and useful advice about the philosophies to adopt in life. I like it so much that I included it at the end of the first book that I published in 2016 called ‘Be First Class‘. I hope that you enjoy reading it.

Promise yourself – Christian D Larson

To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person you meet.

To make all your friends feel that there is something worthwhile in them.
To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.

To think only the best, to work only for the best and to expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.

To forget the mistakes of the past and press onto the greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.

To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticise others.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.

To think well of yourself and to proclaim this fact to the world,
not in loud words but great deeds.

To live in faith that the whole world is on your side so long as you are true to the best that is in you.

This week, why not pause and take a few moments out to reflect. Consider if you can take one piece of wisdom from ‘Promise yourself ‘and apply it to your life in order to be the best version of yourself.
