Last week, I spent time with some great clients who I work with each month and are based on the south coast.

I feel privileged that I have the chance to work with such positive and talented people and at the end of the day I get chance to walk on the seafront.

Time spent by the sea always inspires me. It helps clear my mind, relaxes me and some creativity or insight also seems to pop up. The picture above is Porthcurno beach in Cornwall. It is one of my favourite beaches and is special as it is where I had the idea to start my own business many years ago.

This week I have been reflecting and appreciating the things in life that inspire me. Music, amazing sporting performances and films are on my list, as well as beautiful sunsets, pictures and flowers.

I also love watching documentaries on how people have developed their business, designed and built a house. I get inspired by reading biographies by people that have overcome challenges and adversity before reaching their goals. People coping with physical disability and maintaining a positive outlook and disposition always make me feel very humble but inspired. Inspirational quotes and writings have always had a positive influence on me.

In this week’s blog I thought I would share a piece written by Christian D Larson an author who was from Norway and lived between 1874 and 1962.

He was a highly influential early New Thought leader and teacher as well as a prolific writer of New Thought books.

He believed that people have tremendous latent powers, which could be harnessed for success with the proper attitude. This piece of writing inspires me and has had an influence on my philosophy to life. I hope you enjoy reading it.

Promise yourself

To be so strong that nothing
can disturb your peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness, and prosperity
to every person you meet.

To make all your friends feel
that there is something worthwhile in them.
To look at the sunny side of everything
and make your optimism come true.

To think only the best, to work only for the best,
and to expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others
as you are about your own.

To forget the mistakes of the past
and press onto the greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful countenance at all times
and give every living creature you meet a smile.

To give so much time to the improvement of yourself
that you have no time to criticize others.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear,
and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.

To think well of yourself and to proclaim this fact to the world,
not in loud words but great deeds.
To live in faith that the whole world is on your side
so long as you are true to the best that is in you.”

This week, why not have a think about what inspires you. What would be on your list of things that inspire you? Are you dedicating sufficient time (in the busyness of life) to do the things that you love to do and bring you a feeling of inspiration, contentment and relaxation? Be inspired!
